Have you ever been curious about the origins of The Luna Spot? In this post, I'm excited to share the story of how the brand was brought to life!
Hi, I'm Alaskah, the driving force behind The Luna Spot.
You might have caught glimpses of me on my Instagram stories or crossed paths with me at a local market. Regardless, I extend a warm welcome to you at TLS – where I specialise in designing high-quality jewellery that's waterproof, tarnish free, and proudly making an impact on the earth. Come along with me as I uncover the story behind the inception of The Luna Spot brand.
It all began back in 2019, when I had a vision for a space where people could gather to connect over beautiful homewares, bohemian decor, and spiritual gifts. This dream gave rise to the name "The Luna Spot"—a haven for like-minded women to come together for workshops and explore a collection of incense, crystals, and holistic goods.
However, living in a small apartment posed a big challenge for me, as I lacked the space to store all the products I initially planned to sell. And as the idea faded, my original moodboard for The Luna Spot remained dormant in my Canva account.
(Take a peek at the original moodboard below...)
Everything changed however when a friend using my account stumbled upon the moodboard and reignited my passion for the project. She was thrilled about The Luna Spot concept and encouraged me to give it another shot.
Around the same time, I was working as a commercial photographer for a jewellery brand, where I discovered a passion for jewellery and started building my own collection. Living on the Gold Coast, I would often wear these pieces in the ocean and unfortunately, they would turn green and become discoloured from exposure to the sea. I spent both countless hours and money trying to invest in solid jewellery and was left frustrated by the lack of genuinely waterproof and tarnish free pieces.
Realising that there was a gap in the market for affordable and high-quality pieces I decided to pivot the business to focus on jewellery instead. I also realised jewellery is small and easy to store - so the whole idea just made perfect sense!
With this new direction, I started researching suppliers and exploring ways to offer sustainable, affordable, and waterproof jewellery, a quality I had struggled to find. Through testing and discovering the right products, I fell in love with the possibilities for The Luna Spot.
With a strong personal commitment to sustainability, I made it a priority to integrate eco-friendly practices into our operations. This included using recycled and environmentally conscious packaging and partnering with Ecologi to plant a tree worldwide for every order placed.
My vision for The Luna Spot today still extends beyond just offering beautiful jewellery online. With a dream to eventually create a unique and welcoming physical space where everyone can come and experience the brand in person. This space would be a hub for self-expression, community, and exploration. Imagine coming in to get piercings, permanent jewellery, and crafting your own personalised look with the guidance of a skilled and friendly team!
While my dream is still a work in progress, I'm excited to see how the brand evolves and grows. Thank you for being a part of this journey—I hope you enjoy the jewellery I've carefully curated and the magical experience we're building together! I'm grateful you've joined The Luna Spot family and look forward to seeing you online wearing our beautiful pieces.
